Domestic consumers will be encouraged to produce their own electricity from renewable sources, foresees one of the measures under the "Circular and low-carbon economy" strategy of the National Development Program "Bulgaria 2030", uploaded for public discussion.
According to her, end customers will be able to participate in "renewable energy communities" that can produce, consume, store or sell renewable energy.
For this purpose, there will be changes in the normative and regulatory framework, the authors of the strategy indicate. Details of how this will be done and how much it will cost, however, are not specified in the strategy.
The aim of the measures is for RES energy to reach a 27.09% share in gross final consumption by 2030.
According to experts in the industry, under our climatic conditions, the use of such installations is the most direct way to reduce electricity bills .
Among other measures, in the heating and cooling energy sector, priority will be given to innovative technologies using geothermal, hydrothermal and solar energy and the recovery of waste heat and cold.
In the transport sector, the introduction of new generation biofuels will be encouraged. It will also analyze the need to put natural gas replacement capacities into operation, as well as how to stimulate such an investment.
We will reduce electricity bills
Efforts will be focused on the deployment of electric mobility, development and stimulation of the use of public electric transport, as well as on accelerating the implementation of modern technologies in the railway sector.
The construction of 2,000 MW of new nuclear power is planned, which, together with the operation of the 5th and 6th units of the Kozloduy NPP EAD, will contribute to the energy security of the country and the region.
