The second quarter of 2021 was a record for this period of the year for the US solar sector with 5.7 GW installed. This is the fourth strongest quarter for solar development in the United States overall.
It was a record quarter for residential (974 MW), solar trading rose 31% year over year. Perhaps most impressive are the 4.2 GW of utility solar capacity.
Despite these optimistic figures, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Wood Mackenzie warned of difficulties and impending cost increases. Although the market will grow, the instability of the global economy will affect the sector.
