Smart Solar Technologies JSC, part of the Turkish business group Smart Solar , has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bulgarian government for the construction of a new plant for the production of solar panels and cells (details on the subject can be found HERE ). The investment worth BGN 240,000,000 will be realized in the village of Elenino, Stara Zagora municipality, on land that is part of the construction of the second stage of the Zagore Industrial Zone. details about the project in the following lines.
The production of solar panels in our new high-tech plant is expected to start by the end of 2025, and of solar cells – in the following year 2026. This will be the first plant for the production of photovoltaic panels and solar cells flew in Bulgaria and one of the first in The European Union (EU) is such a combined data. The manufactured products are intended for export to the European markets - Germany, Italy, Holland and Austria.
The combined production in the plant will be carried out by means of separated high-tech productions with assembly lines, a large part of the processes which will be fully automated. In this way, in addition to contributing to the economic development of the region, including the creation of new jobs, the productivity and efficiency of operational activities will increase, which will lead to a reduction in production time. Respectively, the necessary preconditions will be created for the quality of the production to be high.
The investment has several key objectives, namely:
- Expanding the product range through the development of new products and technological improvements;
- Entry of Smart Solar brand products into an even greater number of commercial establishments;
- Expansion of the assortment of goods offered so far;
- Entering new markets;
- Creation of a transport hub for EU delivery;
- Subsequent investments for the region and the country;
- Raising the standard of living for the region.
According to the plan, within 24 months from the beginning of the project, the necessary production halls should be built and the machines for the production of solar panels should be delivered. The purchase and installation of machines for the assembly and production of cages, electric trucks, towers, racks and smoke curtains, ventilation and fire systems is planned. Land was purchased in the village of Elenino, Stara Zagora, with an area of 126,933 m2.
The project envisages that all buildings are energy efficient and ecologically compliant with the green transition. The goal is to achieve zero emissions during production, i.e. complete elimination of the release of harmful gases or waste water from the processes.
According to the experts from the team of the engineering company established in the field of solar energy, the investment can be considered in several successive stages. The first stage includes the purchase of a plot of land and the subsequent construction of an infrastructure supporting all the construction processes of the enterprise. Support infrastructure includes plumbing, electricity, gas, roads, landscaping and surveying, mapping and engineering. The second stage covers the construction of production and administrative buildings, logistics parks, public premises, training and conference halls, rest and recreation facilities.
The plant is unique for our country because of the combined production of photovoltaic cells and panels. It will be divided into separate production rooms - one specialized for the production of panels and the other for cells. The two premises will be equipped with the necessary machinery and equipment in two stages, first it is planned to start the production of panels in the second year of the investment, and in the third year - the production of cells.
